ADMISSIONS

Bachelor of Dental Surgery – BDS:    Duration of course - 5 years.
Candidates for admission to BDS course must have passed Intermediate Public Examinations i.e. 10 + 2 with subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Zoology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks (Science subjects) and should have qualified EAMCET Entrance and selection on merit basis through Counseling.
 "Candidates seeking admission under NRI / Foreigner Quota are eligible for direct admission and there is no need to take any Entrance Examination with minimum of 50% of marks of Intermediate i.e. 10+2 (with science subjects).

Master of Dental Surgery – MDS:    Duration of course - 3 years
Candidates for admission to MDS course must have a BDS degree from a college and university recognized by the Dental Council of India, New Delhi or an equivalent qualification recognized by Dr. NTRU of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, A.P., and should have scored a minimum of 50% marks and should have qualified the competitive Entrance examination.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Admissions procedure for B.D.S course :
Total number of seats available in SIDS for B.D.S are 100. These 100 seats are divided into three categories:

Category A (Competent Authority Seats): 50 seats will be filled under this category. These seats are filled by Convenor, EAMCET based on EAMCET rank.
Category B (Management Seats): 20 seats will be filled under this category. These seats are filled by Convenor, EAMCET based on EAMCET rank. Annual fee charged for this category will be higher than category A.
Category C(Management Seats): 30 seats will be filled under this category.

Eligibility Criteria for B.D.S Course:
1. The candidate should complete the age of 17 years on or before December 31st of the year of admission to the B.D.S course.
2. The candidate should pass the qualifying examination as under:

Eligibility Criteria for BDS Course under Management Quota:

1.The candidate should complete the age of 17 years on or before December 31st of the year of admission to the B.D.S course.

2. The candidate should pass the qualifying examination as under:

The higher secondary examination or the Indian school certificate examination which is equivalent to 10+2 higher secondary examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of study comprising of Physics , Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics or any other elective subject with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by National council for Educational research and training after the introduction of 10+2+3 years educational structure as recommended by the National committee on education.

OR

The intermediate examination in the science of an Indian university/Board or other recognized examining body with Physics, Chemistry and Biology which should include a practical test in these subjects and also English as a compulsory subject.

Any other examination equivalent to the intermediate science examination of an Indian University/Board.

1-The applicant should have passed the two-year Pre-University Examination in Karnataka or its equivalent examination.

2-The candidate should have completed seventeen years of age as on 31st December of the academic year of admission.

3-The candidate shouId have studied Physics,Chemistry and BioIogy in the qualifying examination conducted by any recognized Indian Higher Secondary Board or equivalent qualification

4-Candidates who have passed B.Sc.examinations are also eligible for admission subject to the subjects grouping as approved by the University.

5-The candidate should have secured not less than 50% aggregate in the Science subjects in the qualifying examination and a pass in English for admission to MBBS and BDS. However, for candidates belonging to scheduied caste and scheduled tribe categories, the minimum aggregate is 40%.

6-The candidate should be medically fit.
Any other conditions laid down by the University from time to time.

7-Admission shall be subject to the approval of Yenepoya University.

8-The candidate has to submit, in original, the following documents : a] SSLC Certificate b] PUC 2 Certificate c) Transfer Certificate.

1-The applicant should have passed MBBS/BDS Course from a recognized institution.

DEPT OF CONSERVATIVE DENTISTRY & ENDODONTICS
This department conducts teaching programs for under graduate and post graduate students. Here all aspects of restorative (filling) procedures, aesthetic restorations, (tooth coloured) root canal treatment, treatment of teeth with deep caries (decay), pain management and root abscess management are done.
This department is also conducting Post-graduate teaching program. Extensive and elaborate training is given to them in restorative dentistry (filling) and endodontics (Root canal treatment) and also in aesthetic dentistry.

DEPT OF PROSTHODONTICS
The department is concerned with both undergraduate & post-graduate curriculum.
The department deals with the rehabilitation of the entire stomatognathic system taking the TMJ & the jaws as a single unit in promoting total oral health and masticatory efficiency. This treatment consists of a wide array of treatment modalities including fabrication of complete dentures, over dentures, cast partial dentures, fixed partial dentures & maxillofacial prosthesis.
An excellent restorative laboratory annex exists adjuvant to the department which is provided with the advanced equipments and includes a ceramic lab.
Rehabilitation of patients with maxillofacial and extraoral prostheses to restore the total quality of life for patients who have been handicapped by the unfortunate occurrence of trauma or cancer, is carried out extensively.
Controlled temperature & pressure for optimal processing of acrylic resin prosthesis & its finishing done with equal care for satisfying urge for excellence.
Electromagnetic induction force used for delivery of blemish free castings in conjunction with the latest in electronic furnaces for all kinds of cast metal restorations.

DEPT OF PREVENTIVE & COMMUNITY DENTISTRY
With the help of various social service and voluntary organizations, we conduct regular rural dental treatment camps.
At these camps routine dental treatments like extractions, restorations, and oral prophylaxis are done and patients requiring specialized treatment are referred to the college.
Educative lectures on oral health with the help of charts, models, audio-visual aids are routinely given at the camps. Various checkup and screening camps are also conducted in the rural areas. Department also conducts epidemiological survey at some places with the objective of collecting information regarding oral disease status and treatment needs of local population.

ELIGIBILITY

We accept candidates who have passed the pre-university examination of the Board of the Karnataka or any other equivalent exam in the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English (PCBE) Students who have not less than 50% of aggregate marks in the above-mentioned subjects are eligible for admission to the 1st year B.D.S. Course.
