College of Dental Sciences is located in the capital of Karnataka i.e
Bangalore, The College was started in 1991.
The college is associated to Rajiv Gandhi University ofhealth and sciences, (RGUHS), Karnataka and the courses offered by it are
recognized by Dental Council of India (DCI). Currently, the institute is
maintained and regulated by Mahatma Gandhi Vidya Peetha Education Trust.
The institution is also actively involved in community dental
health and treatment programs catering to the needs of rural population with
the intention of providing an awareness and knowledge on oral diseases and
importance of good oral hygiene practice among school children and rural folk.
The college is a world class dental institution providing
high quality and distinct dental education. They boast a small student
population which ensures every one of them benefitting from more one to one
communications with the staff.
Master of Dental Surgery (MDS):
Master of Dental Surgery is a three years post graduate
course, which is been offered by Dayanand Sagar College of Dental Sciences. The
program is spread into six semesters; eligible candidates are only admitted
into this program.
MDS is a 3 year post graduation course in a given specialty
of dentistry. At present the college
offers Master’s Degree in the following specializations
Specializations:
- Oral Medicine & Radiology
- Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
- Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics
- Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics
- Prosthodontics including crown and bridge
- Public Health Dentistry
- Periodontics
During the course period the candidate will undergo
extensive training in the specialty which includes seminars, journal review
meetings, symposia, conferences, case presentation, pre-clinical exercises,
clinics and didactic lectures during each year as designed by the department
and university. The training program also includes research activity.
Each student will be assessed periodically by the concerned
department and progress is evaluated. The university examination will be
conducted at the end of three years after the candidate fulfils the criteria
laid down by the university, which includes the required attendance, progress
of the candidate during the three years and submission of dissertation.
