Bachelor of Dental Surgery

B.D.S. stands for Bachelor of Dental Surgery. It is an Undergraduate Academic Degree course which deals with the field of Dentistry. The duration of Bachelor of Dental Surgery course is 4-5 years of study with internship and without internship.

After M.B.B.S., Bachelor of Dental Surgery is one the most sought after course in the field of medical science. B.D.S. enables one to become a Dentist. Dental Courses comprise didactic lectures, demonstrations, group discussions, seminars, clinical work and conferences.

Master of Dental Surgery (MDS):

Master of Dental Surgery is a three years post graduate course, which is been offered by Dayananda Sagar College of Dental Sciences. The program is spread into six semesters; eligible candidates are only admitted into this program.

MDS is a 3 year post graduation course in a given speciality of dentistry.  At present the college offers Master’s Degree in the following specializations.

During the course period the candidate will undergo extensive training in the specialty which includes seminars, journal review meetings, symposia, conferences, case presentation, pre-clinical exercises, clinics and didactic lectures during each year as designed by the department and university. The training program also includes research activity.

Each student will be assessed periodically by the concerned department and progress is evaluated. The university examination will be conducted at the end of three years after the candidate fulfils the criteria laid down by the university, which includes the required attendance, progress of the candidate during the three years and submission of dissertation.
