The College of Dental Sciences is one of the two premier dental colleges under the umbrella of Bapuji Educational Association.
This institution was established in 1991.
The B. D. S. degree was recognized by the Dental Council of India in 1996,
In the same year, With permission of Govt of India, Post graduate Courses (MDS) were started in 6 specialties. The M.D.S degree of these specialties got recognition by the Dental Council of India in 1999.
M.D.S. degrees were the first to be recognized in the state of Karnataka under affiliation of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
ADMISSION TO BACHELOR OF DENTAL SURGERY (B.D.S.)
There are 100 seats for the undergraduate course (B.D.S.) at College of Dental Sciences. The seat distribution is as follows:
• Merit seats: 35 (Admission thorough C.E.T.)
• Merit Payment seats: 45 (For Admission through COMED K)
• Management seats: 20 (including NRIs and Management
ADMISSION TO MASTOR OF DENTAL SURGERY (M.D.S.)
A candidate interested in gaining admission to the M.D.S. Course (Master of Dental Surgery) should have passed B.D.S. course from a Dental College recognised by the Dental Council of India and should have completed one year of Internship as on 31st of August of the respective year. In case of international students applying for M.D.S. course, their undergraduate degree and the University should be recognized by the Dental Council of India. The duration of the course is three years, consisting of six academic terms. The academic term for the M.D.S. courses will commence from 1st of September of every year. At present the M.D.S. Course offered by the college are in the following specialities:
1 Oral Medicine and Radiology 4 seats
2 Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery 6 seats
3 Periodontics 6 seats
4 Paedodontics and Preventive Dentistry 6seats
5 Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics 6seats
6 Prosthodontics including Crown andBridge 6seats
7 Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics 6 seats
8 Oral Pathology and Microbiology 4 seats
9 Preventive & Community Dentistry 3 seats
Applications for admission to the M.D.S. course will be called for in the month of Jan/February and for BDS June of every year.
