College & Hospital ,located in Shimoga (Karnataka), came into existence in 1992. The
college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and Indian
Dental Association (IDA). The college has also gained the recognition from
Dental council of India (DCI) and Government of India in 2001. The college
offers five years of undergraduate degree level Bachelor’s of Dental Surgery
(BDS) course. Sharavathi Dental College & Hospital intends to train
aspirants as well-qualified and skilled dentist. In order to accomplish its
aim, the dental college focuses on imparting clinical experience along with
theoretical knowledge to the aspirants. The college, part of Sharavathi group
of institutions, is spread over a sprawling area of 40 acres of land. It has
spacious classrooms, well-stocked library, Dentures workshop, well-equipped
laboratories and clinical dental departments. It also provides hostel facility
for both boys and girls which would be fruitful for the students who live
outside Bidar city. The town and the Institution are well connected by train
and bus and also, many food joints and tourist places in the city enable
students to go for a hangout and refresh themselves of their hectic schedules
and enjoy themselves.

A Candidate UN agency has passed the Second year
Pre-University or XII customary or equivalent examination with Physics,
Chemistry & Biology as opt subjects and English mutually of the languages
and has obtained not less than 50% agg marks or equivalent grade is eligible
for admission in to the B.D.S course. Just in case of candidates happiness to
regular caste or regular tribes and class - I,the minimum marks for the aim of
eligibility shall be 40% agg.

Candidates must have passed individually in the subjects of
Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and must have obtained a minimum of not
less than 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together in the
qualifying Examination. In respect of Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes and
Category I, the minimum marks prescribed shall be not less than 40% of the
total marks in lieu of 50% marks for general candidates.
The candidate shall have completed the age of 17 years at
the time of admission or will complete this age on 31st December of the year in
which he/ she seeks admission.
Students studied other than pre-university board of
Karnataka have to produce Eligibility Certificate issued by Rajiv Gandhi
University of Health Sciences, Karnataka at the time of BDS admission.
Eligibility Criteria as Per RGUHS
- No candidate shall be admitted to any postgraduate MDS course unless the candidate has obtained and produced eligibility certificate issued by University. The candidate has to make an application to the University with the following documents along with the prescribed fee:
- BDS pass / degree certificate issued by the University.
- Marks cards of all the university examinations passed (I to IV BDS year course).
- Attempt Certificate issued by the Principal.
- Certificate regarding the recognition of the Dental college by the Dental Council of India.
- Completion of paid rotatory internship certificate from a recognized college.
- Registration by any State Dental Council and
- Proof of SC/ ST or Category I, as the case may be. Candidates should obtain the Eligibility Certificate before the last date for admission as notified by the University. A candidate who has been admitted to postgraduate course should register his / her name in the University within a month of admission after paying the registration fee.
