College of Dental Sciences & Hospital was established in the year 1992
by Sir. M. Visvesvaraya Education Trust, Bangalore with an object of expanding
and promoting dental education. International outlook, democratic ideas and the
potentialities of RAJIV GANDHI are the inspiring force behind this institution.
It spreads humanism through dental care and dental education. This college
offers the courses in Master of Dental Surgery and Bachelor of Dental Surgery.
It is recognized by the Dental Council of India, New Delhi and affiliated to
Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka.
Bachelor of Dental
Surgery(BDS)
ELIGIBILITY
Qualification:
The candidate seeking admission to the first year B.D.S.
course should have passed 2nd pre-university course/12th std or equivalent exam
with minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate of PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY & BIOLOGY
as optional subjects and pass in ENGLISH
language subject (40% in the case of SC/ST/Category-1 candidates of
Karnataka State)
Age Requirement:
The candidate shall complete the age of 17 years as on 31st
December of the year in which the admission is sought.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
Admissions to the first year BDS course are made within the
sanctioned intake. The seat matrix for admission to the first year BDS course
during the academic year 2009-10 is as follows. 35% of the total intake is
permitted to be filled through Government on merit as per the entrance test
held by the Govt. (CET). 45% of the total seats are allowed to be filled by the
COMEDK on merit as per the entrance test held by it. 20% of the seats are
reserved by the college for admission to the NRI/Foreign category students
(15%) and other eligible candidates (5%) as per the merit determined by the
college on the basis of the marks secured in the qualifying examination and the
competitive entrance test.
The students seeking admission to the first year BDS course
shall apply to the college on the prescribed application form, available from
the college website along with all the testimonials within the last date
notified by the college. Incomplete application form will not be considered for
admission. The selected students shall pay all the prescribed fees for
admission. The fees paid to the college will not be refunded after the last date
of admission as notified by the college.
The selected candidate shall join the college with all the
original documents along with the fee within the time prescribed by the
college. The non-complied students will be removed from the merit list of the
college and the vacancy will be filled by admitting other eligible candidate as
per the merit list prepared by the college.
The vacancies determined in the quota of CET and COMEDK
after the reconciliation meeting will also be filled by the college on merit within
the last date as notified by the university.
Any student who cancel the admission or discontinue the
course after the last date of admission shall pay the entire college course fee
for 5 years.
Masterof Dental
Surgery(MDS)
ELIGIBILITY
A candidate for admission to the MDS course (Master of
Dental Surgery) must have a recognized degree of BDS(Bachelor of Dental
Surgery) awarded by an Indian University in respect of recognized Dental
College under Section 10(2) of the Dentists Act, 1948 or an equivalent
qualification recognized by the Dental Council of India and should have
obtained permanent registration with the State Dental Council. Candidates not
possessing a recognized Dental qualification for the above purpose should
secure the prior approval of his qualifications by the Dental Council of India
before he can be admitted to the MDS Course of any University in India.

Candidates who possess PG Diploma recognized by the DCI with
the duration of 2 years(proposed) in particular specialty is eligible for
admission in MDS in the same specialty and the duration will be 2 years. The
syllabus of two years programme will be as per the concerned University
guidelines.
Provided that in the case of a foreign national, the Dental
Council of India may, on payment of the prescribed fee for registration, grant
temporary registration for the duration of the postgraduate training restricted
to the dental college/institution to which he is admitted for the time being
exclusively for postgraduate studies;
Provided that further temporary registration to such foreign
national shall be subject to the condition that such person is duly registered
as dental practitioner in his own country from which he has obtained his basic
dental qualification and that his degree is recognized by the corresponding
dental council or concerned authority.
Admission:
Students for MDS Course shall be admitted based on
performance at the competitive examinations held by Central Government/State
Government/Universities or Institutions.
